About CBB
Restoring homes. Empowering people. Strengthening communities.
Community Building Blocks is a veteran-first housing and neighborhood revitalization nonprofit in development, working on practical pathways from distressed properties to stable housing.

Founding story
Where this began.
Community Building Blocks was inspired by the personal experience of a founder whose mother, a veteran, experienced homelessness for several years.
That experience helped shape a commitment to ensuring that veterans and families have access to stable housing, dignity and opportunity.
Our veterans-first direction is rooted in this personal understanding of housing insecurity.
Mission
To eliminate housing insecurity by revitalizing neighborhoods, empowering families and creating sustainable communities where everyone has a safe place to call home.
Vision
A future where veterans, families and underserved communities have access to safe housing, meaningful opportunities and the resources necessary to build sustainable lives.
Our approach
Plan carefully. Partner early. Report honestly.
We are working to transform distressed and underused properties into safe, stable and affordable housing, starting with veterans experiencing housing instability.
We do not intend to replace the experienced organizations already doing this work in Maryland. Our aim is to find where we can add something real, and to work alongside them.
We are not simply rebuilding houses. We are working to build the conditions in which people and communities can thrive.
Our values
What we hold ourselves to.
Dignity
Every person deserves respect, stability and opportunity, whatever their circumstances.
Community
Lasting change takes residents, organizations, local businesses and community leaders.
Integrity
We operate with honesty, accountability and responsible stewardship.
Empowerment
We look for solutions that help people build independence.
Collaboration
We build relationships that combine expertise, funding and shared commitment.
Sustainability
Solutions must stay viable beyond the first renovation.
Accountability
We measure progress and separate what we hope for from what we have done.
Where we are focused.
Our first proposed housing pilot is in Maryland, with a focus on the Greater Baltimore region, Howard County and Baltimore County.
The Greater Buffalo region of New York, including Erie and Niagara Counties, is a possible future expansion. It is not a current program.

What is confirmed, what is in progress and what we will publish next.
